Kyle has become a major employment center attracting healthcare, retail, and other businesses to the area. In late 2009, Seton Medical Center Hays opened a new 210-bed hospital near the intersection of I-35 and Kyle Parkway. Seton Hays is the largest medical facility in Hays County and offers a full range of medical, surgical, diagnostic and maternity services.

The almost two million square feet of existing and planned retail developments in and around Plum Creek include:
• Kyle Marketplace, which opened in Spring 2007 and includes HEB Plus, Starbucks, Wells Fargo and 17 other establishments.
• Kyle Crossing, located within 1 mile of Plum Creek, opened in Spring 2009 and, at completion, will include Kohl’s, Target, a medical office building, a cinema, multiple restaurants and banks.
• Lowe’s and Walgreens, which have opened their doors adjacent to Seton at I-35 and Kyle Parkway.
